Christine Cushing
Born in Athens, Greece and a Canadian since the age of one,
Christine Cushing is an expert chef and a veteran of the food television industry.
Trained as a chef at George Brown College, Christine went on to graduate at the top of her class at the Paris based Ècole de Cuisine La Varenne. Her experience in France forever changed her food philosophy and strengthened her resolve to follow a career in the culinary arts. She has cooked in such renowned kitchens as Toronto’s Four Seasons Hotel, King Ranch Health Spa and Scaramouche Restaurant. She also successfully launched her own business focusing on catering, recipe development and food styling. Her love of teaching spun off a cooking school called Cooking Chez Toi, where she would conduct cooking parties in people’s homes.
Christine is a widely respected food television personality – in the last decade, she’s hosted three different television series and been a guest on countless other shows. Fearless in the Kitchen is her latest TV adventure. This new
VIVA series has Christine taking self-professed terrible cooks from hopeless to fearless as they learn to cook a fabulous meal for family and friends. In the show, Christine is the fearless leader who dispenses food-savvy tips, techniques and tools with a side of sisterly, “You can do it!”
Launching her gourmet product line, known as Pure Food, was a dream come true and a culmination of many years of planning, testing, researching and determination. The line features a spectacular, award-winning extra virgin olive oil from the sunny island of Crete and a series of five delicious, all natural tomato sauces that were finalists in the Canadian Grand prix 2006.
Christine has served as a spokesperson for Cook for the Cure Breast Cancer campaign and a superhero for the Starbright Foundation for Sick Kids hospital. She has also published two best-selling cookbooks, Dish it Out and Fearless in the Kitchen, and a third, called Pure Food, which won a Gourmand world cookbook award in Spain.
